Long-Term Wildfire Recovery in Rural Communities

While acres burned and structures lost are well-documented after wildfires, the deeper, longer-term impacts—particularly in rural communities—are less visible and less studied. These include prolonged stress, displaced residents, and gaps in access to core necessities such as drinking water and health services. This project engages with rural communities in Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado to better understand long-term wildfire recovery needs. Research and regional workshops aim to share knowledge, build partnerships, and highlight solutions in long-term recovery.
