Christina Greene

Dr. Christina Greene is a Senior Social Scientist with the Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS) program at the University of Arizona. A qualitative social scientist with a background in human-environment geography, Greene’s research focuses on understanding and addressing the societal impacts of climate hazards such as droughts and wildfires. She leads interdisciplinary research teams that bring together physical scientists, social scientists, and communities to collaboratively produce climate knowledge that can inform adaptation decisions and policies. Her research and publications include the drought vulnerability of farmworkers and rural communities, rangeland resilience, and the production of equitable climate services. Her current research projects focus on wildfire in the US Southwest, including understanding changes to wildfire risk in rural landscapes and the long-term wildfire recovery of rural communities. Greene also has experience working with the United Nations in humanitarian mine action programs in Africa and the Middle East. She is currently active in building knowledge collaborations on the intersection of climate, conflict, humanitarian mine action, and land degradation.
