Charles “Chuck” Maxwell
Chuck joined the CLIMAS team as a University of Arizona Associate in the summer of 2025, bringing with him nearly thirty years of experience in meteorology, fire environment data management, and wildland fire decision-support. He was the program manager of the Predictive Services program at the Southwest Coordination Center for nearly 25 years, where he became a national subject-matter expert in fire meteorology and the National Fire Danger Rating System. He also spent a year as the Fire Environment Business Lead for the national wildland fire Data Management Program before retiring from federal service in spring 2025. Chuck is fascinated with understanding how people use environmental information to make risk-informed decisions, and is excited to be part of CLIMAS.
