Rebecca Lybrand
Rebecca Lybrand is a 2014 recipient of the Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS) Climate & Society Graduate Fellows Program. Rebecca is a Ph.D student in the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science at the University of Arizona.
Abstract: The objective of Rebecca’s CLIMAS project is to create two short soils films that document her research as a soil scientist across the Santa Catalina Mountains, AZ using an energetic, first-person perspective. The films will integrate results from her dissertation on how soil carbon cycling changes with shifting climates in the Southwest. The main outcome of this work will be the production of two films, one using a “science message” and the other a “science story.” Surveys will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of formal and narrative science communication techniques. The films will be distributed online using social media.
